  • Beginning this semester, there are several important changes, including the program duration and tuition fees. These changes are highlighted in green.

  • We have expanded our level offerings and refined the curriculum to provide smoother transitions between levels. We encourage you to review the syllabus for the class you wish to enroll in to better understand its learning objectives and determine whether it is the right fit for you.

  • This program is operated by the Korean Education Center of New York (KECNY). The Korean Education Center of New York and the Korean Cultural Center New York (KCCNY) are separate organizations. Please direct all questions regarding this program to the Korean Education Center of New York.



  • Dates: September 14 – December 8 (12 weeks; classes meet once a week on Mondays or Tuesdays)

  • Times: 6:00–7:25 PM or 7:35–9:00 PM (85 minutes)

NB: Cross-attendance between in-person and online classes is not permitted.




REGISTRATION

  • Eligibility: Residents of NY, NJ, CT, DE, and PA. Recommended for high school students and above.

  • Tuition: $200 for a 12-week course

  • Registration Period: August 17 – 30 (Registration may close early if capacity is reached)

  • Cancellation Policy:

    • Full refund (excluding processing fee): Cancellation before the first class

    • 50% refund (excluding processing fee): Cancellation after the first class

    • No refund: Cancellation after the second class


NB: A minimum of five registrations is required to run each course.

If the minimum enrollment is not met, the course may be canceled, and a full refund will be issued.

TEXTBOOK

Textbooks are not included in the tuition fee and can be purchased online.

Required Textbook: I Love Korean (Seoul National University Language Education Institute)



PLACEMENT TEST (Optional)

Suggested Course Placement by Placement Test Score (ACTFL Proficiency Level):

  • 0-6: Korean 1A (Novice Low)

  • 7-12: Korean 1B (Novice Mid)

  • 13-24: Korean 2 (Novice High)

  • 25-38: Korean 3 (Intermediate Low-Mid)

  • 39-52: Korean 4 / Let's Speak Korean (Intermediate Mid-High)

  • 53-60: Korean 5 (Intermediate High-Advanced)

  • 61+: Korean 6 (Advanced Mid and above)




NB: These placement recommendations are provided as a guideline and are not mandatory. However, we strongly encourage students to enroll in the course recommended based on their placement test results.
