Beom Lee is Korean Language Lecturer in the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures at Columbia University. 

He specialized in second language learning with multimedia at Teachers Collage, Columbia University. In Korea, he taught philosophy, history, and culture of Korea and English in the Republic of Korea Army as a military officer in education and psychological warfare. 

He also worked for Hyundai Construction and Engineering Company as an assistant project manager. Beom Lee joined Columbia faculty in 2005, has taught Introductory, First Year, Second Year, and Fifth Year Korean, and has developed online Korean language resources for First and Second Year Korean with his colleagues.

Beom Lee has been teaching Korean at the Korean Education Center of New York since 2011.

Sabina Rowe is a lifelong educator with over seven years of experience teaching Korean language and culture to adult learners and college students. She has been teaching Korean, Business Korean, and Hanja at The Korea Society since 2019, and in recent years, she has also taught Korean language and culture at Brooklyn College (CUNY) and St. John’s University.

Passionate about guiding each student’s unique learning journey, Sabina creates a supportive and engaging learning environment with a strong focus on practical communication and personalized support. Her classes help students of all ages build confidence and develop the skills to use Korean in everyday and professional settings. Teaching continues to bring her joy, just as it did when she first began her career decades ago.

She holds an M.A. in English Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, and an M.S. in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Bank Street College of Education.

Yongjun Choi received his M.A. in Comparative Linguistics, specializing in Korean and Japanese, from Tokyo University of Foreign Studies. He lived in Japan from 2001 to 2011, where he taught Korean at private language schools in Kyoto, Osaka, and Tokyo. His academic research focused on the verb systems of Korean and Japanese.

Since returning to the United States, he has taught Korean and Japanese at a variety of institutions, including CUNY, the Fashion Institute of Technology, the Beekman School, and The Korea Society. He currently teaches Korean and Japanese at LaGuardia Community College, The Korea Society, and New York University, and serves as a Teaching Associate at Columbia University. He has extensive experience teaching learners at a wide range of proficiency levels, from beginner to early advanced.

Nari Attanasio is an educator with over 17 years of experience dedicated to bridging cultures through the Korean language. Born and raised in South Korea, Nari brings an authentic linguistic perspective and a deep cultural understanding to her professional practice in the heart of New York City.

She taught Korean language at a New York City public high school for over 10 years and also at Stony Brook University. She wrote a Korean textbook for non-native learners and developed a Korean curriculum for learners at all levels.

She is also teaching students in NY public schools online as a certified Korean language teacher. Her teaching focus is supporting students at all levels in learning Korean through a balanced approach that combines immersion, high-volume input (reading/listening), and interactive, task-based activities.

Soojin Kim was born, raised, and educated in Seoul, Korea. She holds a Ph.D. in English Language and Literature from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, where she taught English language and literature for six years. She also earned an M.A. in Education from the University of Portland in Oregon, where she conducted research on developing second-language fluency through the use of Reader’s Theater as a classroom strategy. In addition, she holds a certificate from the Online Training Program for Korean Language Instructors at Yonsei University.

Since 2019, Soojin has been teaching Korean in the United States in both online and in-person settings. Her extensive experience includes teaching Korean in immersion military programs and at New York University, Concordia College, Middlebury College, Bellevue College, and other educational institutions. She brings a strong background in language education and second-language acquisition to her Korean language classes.

Yang Hwan Choi has taught Korean language and East Asian cultural studies at the university level for over a decade. He currently serves as a Teaching Professor at DePaul University and has also taught as an adjunct instructor at New York University, SUNY New Paltz, and Ramapo College. He joined New York University as an Adjunct Instructor in 2023 and has extensive experience teaching Korean to students at various proficiency levels.

He holds an Ed.D. in International and Comparative Education and Adult Learning & Leadership from Teachers College, Columbia University, as well as an M.A. in International Educational Development with a focus on Family Education from the same institution. He also earned an M.A. in Sociology and Statistics from Queens College, CUNY, an M.A. in Korean Language and Literature from Kyung Hee University, and a B.A. in Korean Language and Literature and Teaching Korean as a Second Language from Kyung Hee University.

His academic and research interests include Korean cultural studies, Korean popular culture, minority immigrant communities in the United States, Asian fatherhood and family studies, adult learning, and leadership. His research examines the transnational circulation of Korean popular culture through the lens of adult and transformative learning theory. He has also conducted post-COVID family research in association with Teachers College, Columbia University.

Drawing on more than a decade of university-level teaching experience and his interdisciplinary background in language, culture, and adult education, Professor Choi creates an engaging learning environment that connects Korean language learning with contemporary Korean culture and real-world experiences.

Hi, my name is Haeran Song (송혜란). I have been an educator with the New York City Department of  Education since 2010, bringing more than 16 years of teaching experience to  the classroom. 

Currently, I teach Korean Year 3 and AP Korean at Bayside High  School. 

I earned both my Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from  Stony Brook University, as well as a Master of Science in Education from  Queens College. Since 2020, I have also taught Korean 1A, 1B, and 3 at the  Korean Education Center of New York. 

As a bilingual educator, I am passionate  about promoting Korean language proficiency and fostering an appreciation for  Korean culture among learners of diverse backgrounds.

Ji Yeon Kim has been teaching Korean for over 10 years to learners of all ages and proficiency levels, from beginner to advanced. She currently teaches at Columbia University, New York University, and The Korea Society.

She holds an M.A. in Early Childhood Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a TESOL certificate from the University of California, Riverside. Her teaching philosophy centers on helping students develop Korean in a structured and practical way, empowering them to communicate confidently in real-world situations.

Passionate about sharing the richness of Korean language and culture, Ji Yeon creates an engaging and immersive learning environment where students can develop their language skills while gaining a deeper understanding of Korean culture.

Mr. Huh received his B.A. in Linguistics and M.A. in Economics from Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea. 

Then he earned his J.D. at Northwestern University, admitted to the New York State Bar and remains in good standing. Mr. Huh has taught Korean at National University of Kyiv, Kyiv, Ukraine, and is currently teaching Korean at Nassau Community College, Garden City, New York.

Cheunmi Kim has been teaching Korean at the university level for many years and has served as a Language Lecturer of Korean at New York University since 2012. She earned her B.A. in Korean Language Education from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in 1989 and her M.A. in Korean Language Education as a Foreign Language from the same university in 1992.

Before joining NYU, she taught Korean in a variety of programs in both Korea and the United States, including the Korean Language Center of New York, the Korean Heritage School for Adoptees, and the Yonsei University Korean Language Institute. She has experience teaching learners at a wide range of proficiency levels, from beginning to advanced, including college-level students.

With extensive experience in Korean language education, she is dedicated to helping students develop practical Korean language skills while building a strong foundation in the language.

Eunmee Yoon received her Ph.D. in Teaching Korean as a Foreign Language from the Department of Korean Language and Literature at Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea.

She has extensive experience teaching Korean to learners at all proficiency levels, from beginner to advanced, in a variety of programs in both Korea and the United States, including at the college level. She is currently teaching Korean at Queens College in New York.
